Add Heat Exchanger

  • This heat exchanger is an all stainless steel counterflow chiller

  • The wort side has 1.5" Tri-clamp fittings

  • The water side has 1/2" NPT fittings with GHT (Garden Hose Thread) adapters

  • Outer tube diameter is 22mm x 1mm

  • Inner tube diameter is 12.7mm x 0.7mm

  • Overall diameter of the chiller is 280mm

  • Overall height of the chiller is 180mm

  • Overall length of the chiller is 9.5m

System Instructions

Kettle Assembly Instructions

  • On the front of the kettle there are 3 tri-clamp (TC) ports

  • The lower center receives the TC pickup tube as well as 1 of the 4 butterfly valves

  • The lower tangential inlet receives 1 of the 4 butterfly valves (also will receive the tee fitting and temperature probe during the whirlpool)

  • the top tangential inlet receives 1 of the 4 butterfly valves as well (also will receive the stainless tee fitting and temperature probe during the mash)

  • Last, attach the TC 5500w element to the left hand side of the kettle via the large TC ferrule

Pump Assembly Instructions

  • Add a few wraps of teflon tape around the threads on the pump inlet and outlet

  • Hand tighten the included 1.5" TC to 3/4" NPT adapter to pump inlet, tighten an additional half to full turn with wrench

  • Hand tighten the included 1.5" TC to 1/2" NPT adapter to pump outlet, tighten an additional half to full turn with wrench

  • The pump outlet with receive 1 of the 4 butterfly valves

  • Last, plug the power cord into the included twist lock adapter before plugging into the panel

Mash Instructions

  • During the mash, the included tee fitting is to be attached to the top tangential inlet as shown in the pictures

  • The included TC temperature probe is then attached to one side

  • Attached to the other side of the tee fitting is the silicone tubing from the pump outlet

  • Attach another length of silicone tubing from the lower center kettle port to the pump inlet

  • Turn on the pump switch and recirculate the mash during the entire mash schedule to maintain temperature and improve efficiency

Whirlpool instructions

  • For the whirlpool we recommend attaching the tee fitting the same manor as the mash (with temperature probe and pump outlet tubing), but instead attach to the lower tangential inlet

  • Once whirlpool is complete, then simply chill wort and move into fermenter!
